Revised Fire Extinguisher Safety Codes & Its Necessity

Ways of Fire Protection Have changed : Its Time for you ..... Indian Fire Extinguishers have finally moved onto the Next Generation .......

The Existing ISI Standards of “ IS 13849 ABC, IS 2171 DCP, IS 10204 Mechanical Foam & IS 940 Water CO2, IS 2878 Carbon Dioxide (Portable type) Fire Extinguishers has been DISCONTINUED by The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) from 1 Jan 2012
All the above Licenses have been replaced by a Single Umbrella of IS 15683 : 2006

The Design and Manufacturing has been changed from a Construction and Size Based to Performance Based Specification. Individual Sizes and Models Approved under IS 15683 have been listed in a Single license allotted. We also manufacturing special type of fire extinguisher such Automatic Modular type, Clean Agent type & D type fire extinguisher for Metal Fire.

Also we wish to inform you that the Technical Committee of BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS (ISI) have issued the following IS Standard 2190: 2010“Selection Installation and Maintenance Of First – Aid Fire Extinguishers Code Of Practice”

Kindly note as per new ISI Standard the Lifespan of various Fire Extinguishers has been defined. Correspondingly 10 year old existing Fire Extinguishers in your plant are to be scrapped and to be replaced by new design Fire Extinguisher. i.e. as per IS-15683:2006 With ISI Mark

940/IS6234) 2 Ltr , 3 Ltr, 6 Ltr , 9 Ltr
- Carbon Dioxide type Fire Extinguisher (portable): (Replacement of IS 2878)
2 Kg, 3 Kg, 4.5 Kg Capacity
