The Reserve Bank has been seen to be taking desperate measures to stem the recent free fall in the Dollar-Rupee exchange rate. With effect from 14 August, it reduced the existing limits of overseas foreign direct investment in a wholly owned subsidiary or a joint venture abroad (OFDI) and in the general remittance allowed for individuals under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS).
