For women in India's workplaces, this is truly the best and the worst of the times. While glass ceilings are getting shattered and success stories of women are being written every day, the demon of sexual harassment, threat to personal security and a generic gender bias lurks large in workplaces. The Indian Government took a definitive step in this regard in 2013 by instating a law that seeks to end sexual harassment of women at workplace- "The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013"
The ACT is modeled on the Vishakha guidelines which have served as the case law to curb instances of sexual harassment at the workplace since 1997. The main objective of the Act is to ensure that women feel safe at the workplace and to nurture the growth of a holistic work ecosystem. It has made it mandatory for the employer to take concrete steps to prevent sexual harassment at workplace. In fact, instituting internal committees, organizing trainings and creating awareness among employees are some of the mandatory requirements of this law.
To further throw more light upon this, The Daftar, in association with GenderSense is organizing a Session on the Importance and Applicability of SEXUAL HARASSMENT Laws in ALL TYPES of Workplaces!! In this event, GenderSense will be discussing about the Applicability of the Law, its Importance, and How to implement it.
GenderSense also offers a compliance toolkit for the entire domain of POSH (Prevention Of Sexual Harassment) at workplace. Through its other services, GenderSense helps you fulfill your statutory responsibilities as an employer, and helps you become a women friendly workplace and hence a much admired employer
So, join us @ The Daftar 2.0 on 21st February 2018, 5:00 PM, for this amazing, different yet important session & learn more about the Enactment and its applicability!!
